High Ground Spree on Halo
It was hot, that was for sure, sweat beaded down on my forehead as the sun beat down heavily upon my bioarmor suit. The suit itself was tight, moving with every slight muscle twitch, and added with its own regenerative shield.
I moved swift and slow, making sure my sensor didn’t show my position as I slowly crept up upon an enemy, in his glowing red bioarmor. He pulled up the Sniper Rifle and I heard it zoom in. Glancing over I saw a team mate of mine, in his blue bioarmor moving swiftly across the open field. I knew that a single shot from the Sniper would kill him instantly. I moved just a bit faster and stood upright behind the enemy, they scoped in just a bit faster, and just as they were about to pull the trigger, I slammed the butt of my Assault Riffle into the back of his helmet, watching him collapse to the ground. An icon appeared on the bottom of my vision reading, Assassin.
I slid my Assault Riffle onto my back and drew up the Sniper Rifle ducking below the large rock before me, upon a ridgeline. I pulled up the scope and viewed far into the building ahead, while slowly moving my scope along the building edge line.
With a soft grumble I notice, to my dismay, a large tree blocking out the most important part, if not the most dangerous part of the building. A balcony where a Spartan Laser hid. Something so powerful it could destroy any vehicle with a single laser shot.
I returned my scope sight to the opposite edge of the building and ran it along once more. A long red light shot across my vision striking a mongoose, an atv like vehicle, destroying it instantly and killing one of my team mates upon it. I quickly ran my scope up the balcony where it came from.
My intercom beeped, “SniperA13, take care of that laser will you?”
I sleek smile etched upon my face, “gladly.” I said and slowly ran my crosshair over the balcony.
I knew this would be a task, a tree blocking my vision to where I could not see who was on the balcony, I could only guess. All of a sudden, for a quick moment my crosshair turned red, my finger almost pulled the trigger but I stopped, waiting. Another few moments passed.
“What’s your status A13?”
“In my sight, C47, I’ll take them out in a minute.”
“They’re recharging their laser, fire immediately.”
“Got it.” my finger rested against the trigger, slightly ready to pull.
As if they knew it, my crosshair turned red and remained red, quickly I pulled the trigger. At the bottom of my vision three symbols popped up and a voice echoed, “double kill, sniper kill.”
I smiled, “double kill with two headshots, one snipe.” I repeated.
“Good job, continue if you will.”
With a nod I ran my scope through the open field, “you’ve got one coming down in front. Through the front gates.”
“Got him.” I said moving my scope and as soon as red bioarmor appeared in the screen I pulled the trigger and he suddenly fell back, another Headshot icon appeared at the bottom of my vision.
“How many shots you got left A13?”
I thought for a moment, I had picked the sniper up from someone I previously killed, they had fired only a few times. Glancing at the icon on the Rifle I tuned the ‘com. “four shots left.” nothing else needed to be said, I was scout, making sure no one else would die in my sight. Slowly I moved my scope through the building again, “someone else has picked up the laser.”
“I’ll take care of them.” N24 responded.
“Don’t, I’ve got them in my sight I’ll take care of them.” I argued.
“Right.” the ‘com beeped and I stared my scope into the tree again, my cross hair didn’t light up, but I did see the glow of the laser loading.
“Anytime now A13.”
“Don’t worry, I got it.” I said moving my scope my crosshair lit up and I fired, the laser shot out and instead of at my teammate, it shot up as he fell back, another icon appeared, Headshot. I smiled, “there you go.”
“It’s about time.”
“Hey, I got him didn’t I?” I laughed slightly and moved my scope firing another round without thought, I missed the head shot but I managed to kill him with a second, another icon appeared below, Killing Spree. I boasted about it over the ‘com and no one responded. “one shot left, let’s see if I can get a Sniper Spree, aye boys?” I laughed.
“If you can get one more shot, and make it another headshot, I’ll owe you a dinner.” C47 joked and I smiled.
“I’ll hold you to that.” I moved my scope up to the balcony and scanned down, at a bridge crossing over from one building to the next I saw a turret, and behind it controlling it was an enemy firing away. “you owe me dinner.” I said lining up the scope and firing. The bullet seared right through the air and into the enemy dropping the turret and falling of the bridge. Two icons appeared on the screen, one for the Headshot, one for a Sniper Spree.
“Well, now that you are on your sprees, you might want to keep them, don’t you think? There’s a shotgun down to your right, down by the weapon pod, see if you can really shoot a gun.” C47 said and I grumbled.
“Why not?” I checked my surroundings, checked the sensor to make sure no one was coming at me, and I jumped off the ridge into the water. Running up the beach swiftly, I made it to the weapons pod and threw down the empty Sniper and picked up the Shotgun.
I turned and saw a cave entrance and moved towards it. I remembered from experience that a Rocket Launcher, two spike grenades and an Active Camo was all up here, so I’d have to stay on guard. Moving up towards the opening where the grenades and Rocket Launcher sat I snuck up to the broken wall to see an enemy squatting down on the other side of the wall, I pulled up the Shotgun and jumped on top of the wall, the enemy seeing my circle on the sensor show, he turned, but it was too late, I fired a round and he fell before he could shoot.
I grabbed the two grenades, switched them to primary and moved up the cave to the Camo which I grabbed and waited until I was completely unseen before moving again.
“We have another one at the laser.” C47 muttered.
“I have Camo and a Shotgun, I’m moving in,” quickly I glanced at my radar moving towards the balcony where the laser was at, making sure no one was near me, or following me. I saw one person in my way and fired at them, jumped up as now my cover was blown, remembering I was invisible, I stood directly in front of the glowing laser, but was not seen. I waited the last three second until my Camo disappeared and with a hidden smile fired killing him. “got him.”
“You’ve got two more coming up at you. I managed to snipe one, but I can’t get a good shot on the others.” N24 warned me and I smiled.
“Got it covered.” I turned and hid around the corner, they ran right past me and I ran up behind them, shot once killing him, shot again and smiled moving into the snipers sight, “all clear.” an icon appeared on the bottom of my screen, “oh yes! Shotgun Spree and a Killing Frenzy, oh yeah!” I boasted.
“How many shots you got left?”
“Five, why?” I answered looking at my weapons info on the top of my vision.
“Get a Running Riot.”
I grumbled and thought, “sure, why not?” I started moving again, moving to the first floor of the building where an enemy happened to be hiding with a Battle Riffle, shooting once I killed him turned and moved on.
“Point one.” I said into the ‘com. I noticed a red circle moving through my radar and followed it, I snuck around into the opposite building and saw him getting onto the Ghost. A Covenant hover craft that fired deadly plasma bolts, with deadly results. Running as fast as I could I jumped just as he got on to the Ghost and fired once knocking out his shields and landed besides him, jumping onto the craft and kicking him off of it. Another icon appeared on the screen, Highjacker. I turned the Ghost as fast as I could and began firing at him, killing him. “point two,” I said flying the ghost into the open, and not seeing an enemy walking away from me. I flew right over him, killing him as a Splatter icon appeared on the vision below. “point three.” I said with a laugh.
“Games almost over, 45 to 27, you got to get two more before we do to get that riot.” C47 warned and I remained silent. On top of the kills going up and our team far in the lead, the time was quickly thinning on me. It now had one minute and twenty-three seconds remaining. I moved quickly again and looked around, looking at my radar, I didn’t have a lot of time, I needed to act fast, and now. I saw another one running away and I flew over towards him, kicking on the thrust to slid to the side and began firing at the enemy, he died rather quickly and my shields suddenly began to fall.
Throwing the thrusters on again I spun the Ghost around, began firing and threw it forward splattering the enemy, and icon appeared on the screen below, Running Riot.
In my moment of success, I failed to see a small red laser pointing directly at the Ghost I was so happily sitting in.
“A13! Move now!” C47 shouted at me and I snapped back into reality, about to move when suddenly a red laser shot down on me, killing me instantly. My sprees gone completely. I grumbled and just as my respawn time reloaded, the announcers voice echoed in my ‘com “Game Over.”
Cursing to myself I sat back, putting my controller down and sighing hearing the other team curse and complain about the screen name NightRavenAura, with icon tag A13. I could only smile knowing that the person they were complaining about was also the MVP of the game.
